I'm a little disappointed that this graphic novel was so short (at least a third of what Crossfire was) and that Beddor deviated from the original characters that captivated me so much in the first books, but the new leads deserve an opportunity as they possess a spark of charisma, despite the fact that, as happens when too many characters are introduced in a short period of time, there are few who really have the opportunity to stand out while the rest pass unnoticed. It will be necessary to see how they evolve in future sequels, if there are any, to know if it has been something innovative or if it will remain in an attempt to copy other known formulas. ![]() Somehow, Beddor manages to make them work enough to draw attention to them, using a mix of humor and unexpected camaraderie that isn't always effective but here has worked well However, although I have liked a lot these new characters for the most part, I'm not particularly excited about this Suicide Squad-style team, perhaps because these types of characters have become common lately. ![]() In this sequel, the course of the plot changes to introduce several new characters, a group of renegades who are forced to work for the queen of Wonderland for various reasons. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() more and detailed depictions of rape and torture.I might get a little spoilerish in this review but I think that there are things that people should walk in on with open eyes. Review 1: i liked it i give it 3.5 stars leaning to 4 stars cuz the hot smexy parts :) i found the relationship to be abusive from our standards but can be understood/excused because of the fantasy aspect of the book.one part that i really didnt like was yhalen's misogyny that persisted pretty much throughout the book via him hating and looking down on traditional female gender roles that he ended up living making him feel ashamed and using 'womanly' as the worst insult he could call himself.though it was just yhalen's issue so it wasnt that bad.though ya big violence/torture/rape warning for this book! ![]() ![]() Recorded as first surfacing in 1827, it served as a gathering ground for their original characters and stories, thought to be a starting point for several themes realized in their later works. ![]() Glass Town was a collective, a place, a world fully realized in the minds of the Brontë children. Glass Town wasn’t originally a classic work in the way the famous Wuthering Heights by Charlotte’s sister Emily or The Tenant of Wildfell Hall by sister Anne was. Instead, the new book from Abrams ComicArts takes elements from both the inspired original concept and comic rework and combines them perfectly into a refreshing literary rosé. However, this isn’t the case in the graphic novel version of Charlotte Brontë’s Glass Town, reimagined by Isabel Greenberg. Or alternately, it is completely watered down and made lackluster alongside imaginative graphics competing for the reader’s attention. ![]() Flowery language that makes a novel immersive and delicious to the mind and ear can be cloistering and congestive when adapted into spoken panels. ![]() And for understandable reasons.Ĭomics and classic literature - while both equally worthwhile forms of written entertainment - don’t always mix well.
